Our model, founded in research (link to research), is simple. When children receive consistent literacy support, they improve in their literacy ability.
Anyone can sign up to be a Reading Champion.
1) sign-up.
2) You then complete the hour-long training on our website.
3) Apply on the Classroom Collective portal to be a Reading Champion at a school local to you.
To be a Classroom Collective Reading Champion, you need to commit to one thirty-minute in-person session at your selected school for at least one school term. In-take for Reading Champions takes place at the start of every term. Learners are selected to join the programme by their teachers, and you will work with the same learners in a term. Every thirty-minute session is made up of two fifteen-minute sessions in which you will read with two learners per session.
1) The first five minutes - You read aloud to the learners.
2) The next five minutes - you and the learners read aloud together.
3) The last five minutes - you play a paper and pen game - yes, the same ones you played as a child :)
At the end of your session, you walk the children back to class and fill in the session details on the portal.
